One of the primary reasons why students choose to study abroad is the variety of courses available overseas. Even in regular courses such as engineering and management, the specializations offered are far more than what are available locally, and the flexibility of choosing them is far greater than what we have here.

Another reason is the quality of education. Take for instance an MBA degree. Out of the FT Global Top 20 B-schools, only one (ISB) is from India. This means that 19 out of top 20 B-schools are outside India.

Moreover, courses offered abroad are more up-to-date and admissions are not subject to interference and lack of transparency, factors commonly seen in India.

However, one has to realize that a quality check is a must before selecting a college abroad. Moreover, one must also note that the cost of an overseas education is far more than that of a local course.
